Steps for Implementing


Step 1:
Enroll with EANINDIA and receive your GS1 prefix..

Step 2: Internally generate EAN-13 was through assigning of item ids to each different item using the same GS1 prefix.

Step 3: Calculate the last digit, the check digit, using modular 10 algorithm as provided in the technical guide.

Step 4: Design the label, allowing room for barcode symbol and human readable information.

Step 5: Print the bar code on to the retail item, by incorporating the bar code in the product packaging or by applying labels on product packaging.

Step 6: Advise the trading partner of the GS1 numbers you have generated and assigned to each retail item and also to GS1 to update the product database for using electronic catalogues.
