Financial Assistance Scheme

Barcoding is widely used for automated data capture worldwide. When used with GS1 standards, it facilitates unique and universal identification of individual items, cartons, containers, etc. Most modern Retailers/buyers in India and overseas demand GS1 barcodes on products supplied to them.

To encourage micro and small enterprises to adopt global standards in barcoding and comply with best practices, the O/o Development Commissioner (MSME), Ministry of Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises, Govt. of India, has notified an attractive financial assistance scheme for registered micro and small manufacturing enterprises vide notification No. 10(6)/2000-EP & M, dated November 27, 2001. The scheme is in effect from January 1, 2002.  

The revised scheme applicable w.e.f. June 1, 2007 allows eligible units to claim reimbursements of 75% of the one-time registration fee and 75% of the annual fee paid to GS1 India for the first three years, against proof of payment. The reimbursements are made directly by MSME. 

All eligible micro and small manufacturing enterprises that have been allocated GS1 Company prefix numbers on or after January 1, 2001 are advised to avail of this financial assistance by applying to:
