EC/EDI Council of India, Deptt. of Commerce, Ministry
of Commerce and Industry, Govt. of India has endorsed
the GS1 standards as National standards for EDI and
barcoding. The relevant section is excerpted below:
National
Standards
All the regulatory and facilitatory organisations implementing
EC/EDI are working towards standardisation of messages
being exchanged between organisations as well as with
the user community. Following standards have been declared

EANCOM for commercial transactions
