GS1 India allocates Global Location Number (GLN) which can be used to identify physical locations and legal entities in a unique, unambiguous and universal manner. GLNs are a prerequisite for GS1 eCom message or to access information from the Global Data Synchronisation Network.
GLN is also used as unique farm/plot identifier within Global G.A.P.
GLN is recognised by UN/EDIFACT (United Nations, Electronic Data Interchange for Administration, Commerce and Transport) for identifying sender and recipient of EDI messages and is referenced within ISO standards as ISO 6523.
Organisations registered with GS1 India can generate GLNs by using the company prefix number allocated to it. Organisations not registered for company prefix number can apply for GLN allocation online.
