Fastags to be mandatory at all toll plazas from December 2019
The Ministry of Road Transport and Highways (MoRTH) has declared that all lanes at all toll plazas on national highways across the country will be dedicated Fastag lanes from 1, December 2019. Additionally, non-Fastag users will be charged double the fees if they use the Fastag lanes.

FASTags Will Be Compulsory For Every Vehicle In India; Every Toll Plaza Will Be FASTag Enabled
Govt. of India has declared that FASTags, which are Radio Frequency Identification (RFID) technology, will be made mandatory for every vehicle in India. Earlier, it was mandatory for only new vehicles. This means that if your vehicle is not enabled with FASTags, then you won’t be able to cross any toll plaza.

Govt pushes for E-tolling! FASTags to be made mandatory from December 1
To ensure seamless traffic and prevent congestion at toll plazas, the government Friday said it has decided to declare all lanes at toll fee plaza on national highways as 'FASTag lanes' from December 1.
However, among all lanes, one 'hybrid lane' will be allowed at every toll plaza to facilitate and monitor over-dimensional or oversized vehicles, where FASTag and other modes of payment will be accepted.

RFID project kickstarted, officially
The much-awaited RFID project for collecting toll tax was officially inaugurated on Monday. While visiting the newly-operation facility at DND Flyway, lieutenant governor Anil Baijal said that the project will minimise the number of commercial vehicles entering Delhi.

Customers can buy FASTags on e-platforms, apps
A simple idea of digitalising micropayments at toll plazas led to conceptualisation of the National Electronic Toll Collection (NETC) program a few years ago. FASTags, an RFID tag which permits the customer to drive seamlessly through toll plazas without stopping at the counter, are being issued by about 22 banks. Collectively, these banks have issued over 5 million tags which are accepted at over 500 toll plazas across the country.

Govt mulls mandatory barcoding of all medicines sold within India
The government plans to make barcoding mandatory on all medicines sold locally in a bid to offset India’s growing reputation as a source of counterfeit medicines.
While the system is already in place for medical devices and export of medicines to ensure their authenticity and traceability, the Union health ministry plans to take a tough stance for the domestic market as well despite resistance from drug companies.

FASTags can now be purchased online through Amazon
FASTags are now available on e-commerce platform Amazon to further promote digital payment of toll for seamless traffic, the government said Wednesday. FASTag is a reloadable tag which enables automatic deduction of charges at toll plazas.

Government targets higher adoption of FASTag
Drivers of vehicles that do not have the FASTag device installed may soon have to pay twice the toll fee on entering the FASTag lane. The device, when installed in the vehicle, enables drivers to drive through toll plazas without having to stop.
