GS1 India organised its Healthcare Conference, “The Next Frontier in Healthcare: Standardised, Sustainable & Safe”, on 9th October 2026 at the India Habitat Centre, New Delhi. As regulatory expectations rise and the sector digitises at pace, the conference focused on how shared standards and cross-industry partnerships can make healthcare safer, transparent and more connected. The day featured keynote addresses, panel discussions, presentations and case studies by senior leaders from across the sector.
A common thread across the sessions was the need for a single, reliable identity for every healthcare product. Speakers explored how globally accepted GS1 standards, interoperable 2D barcodes and Unique Device Identification can strengthen authentication, improve recall management and reduce the risk of falsified products. Discussions also looked ahead at the role of registries and trusted data in India’s digital health journey, the responsible adoption of artificial intelligence (AI) in patient care, and the importance of aligning Indian regulations with international requirements.
The audience included delegates from regulatory and government agencies, pharmaceutical and medical device manufacturers, hospitals, e-pharmacies, distribution platforms and advisory firms. Many of the speakers drew on their own implementation journeys, offering delegates a realistic view of what it takes to adopt standards at scale. Beyond the formal sessions, the event gave participants the chance to connect with peers throughout the healthcare value chain and build relationships for future collaboration.
